What is Britain by Rail?
Britain
by Rail was my idea in 2006. I noticed that rail companies
were only promoting their own services and paid even less attention
to bus links, connecting ferries and other things that passengers
want to know about! So I thought it would be good to set up a
website that provides people with everything they want to know about
making a journey, and that's impartial.
People sometimes ask is this website for rail
enthusiasts. I'm sure people with an interest in trains will
like it, but no, primarily it is for those who are interested in
getting about by train, or ferry. Another question asked is if
this is a business. In a word, no. It is not associated
with any business or organisation, so everything you see promoted
here is because I think its worth using. I don't receive any
payments from anyone, so the website is funded by me. In fact
you might be surprised to know that the rail industry shows a
complete lack of interest in this website. If I had set it up
to earn approval from the rail companies I would be left very
disappointed! Ferry companies have been the complete opposite
though. I always get a reply when requesting information, and
they couldn't be more helpful!
I hope you enjoy the
site, and feel free to get in touch with your comments.
