Enjoy a Steam Train Ride!

For the visitor these railways offer the opportunity to step back in time with authentic stations, surroundings, carriages and atmosphere to a time now lost to modernization elsewhere.  Depending on the line you visit, you may be stepping back anywhere from the 1890's to the 1950's!  Many are also famed for their exceptional scenery and in fact people do visit for that reason alone too. 

Apart from the heritage lines, some groups and companies also offer the chance to ride behind steam locos on the main line at main line speeds.  Tours vary from one off specials to regular excursions to places of interest.
