What's new?February 2012Updates for the Scotland by Rail book pages are online to download. Updates to the details for Chester City bus link. November 2011Stranraer Port has now closed. This is a sad move as it means the ferry no longer serves the railway station at Stranraer. Stena Line has moved to a new ferry terminal six miles away. A connecting bus will be provided but not from Stranraer, it instead leaves from Ayr Station. Through rail, and bus, and sea tickets are still available and may be purchased from any staffed railway station. The money saving tips page has been updated. The bus links page has been updated with new bus links, and links no longer available removed. April 2011London Underground and bus fares updated. March 2011Latest days out by train from Compass Tours now online. February 2011Exciting news! I've been working on a book to go along with this website, Scotland by Rail, and its ready now. September 2010A new website! I've been working on another project for a while, Scotland by Rail, which will be on here shortly. However, its meant that the website has been somewhat neglected. The website has also been added to and changed since 2006, so its also got a bit messy. It was time for a tidy up and update! Most of the new site is online, but I'll be uploading more pages over the weeks to come. April 2010New fares and tickets guide pages. Airport railway stations pages updated. September 2009Lots of updates to pages throughout the site, keeping the information up to date! April 2009Tram and underground rail links page has been updated with details of more tram lines. Updates to many pages completed. January 2009Planning a summer holiday in the sun?... check out the new French and Italian Motorail page. New tips for getting a cheaper train ticket added to the cheaper train tickets page. December 2008Rail connected shipping services is updated with details of more rail links. Sleeper trains page has been updated with pictures of the Night Riviera sleeper. October 2008Airport rail links page has been updated with information for Cardiff airport. The Timetables page has been updated with links to printable timetables and pocket timetables (pdf) for all rail services. There are also now links to online search tools to find rail journeys online. I am currently updating the connecting services section and have completed some major updates the connecting ferry services page. More to come so check back!
